Video: Syrian army shells south-east Idlib town on contested frontline
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (04:35 PM) – Video footage by rebel militants has surfaced showing heavy fighting in the town of Khuwayn al-Kabir, in southeastern Idlib.
The Syrian Arab Army has been heavily bombarding the area with artillery fire after rebels from Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly known as Al-Nusra) and other rebels recaptured the town on Monday.
Khuwayn al-Kabir has been part of a hotly contested frontline for days, with the town having changed occupants several times over the past week alone. Last week, rebel forces succeeded in taking the town back from Syrian forces for less than a day, before Damascus restored order to the area.
Currently, however, Khuwayn is once again under control of militant rebel forces, prompting the heavy artillery and missile fire that can be seen in the video.
