VIDEO: Syrian Army motorized troops seize strategic town in southwest Aleppo during blitz assault
BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:15 P.M.) – On Saturday afternoon, forces of the Syrian Arab Army and allied paramilitary groups seized the strategic town of Tal ad-Daman in Aleppo province’s southwestern countryside during a lightning assault that saw them seal the victory on major operation throughout the Al-Hass plateau region started just four days earlier.
The southwest Aleppo offensive saw the Syrian Army and allied militias employ a high concentration of purely motorized forces – i.e. armed pickups.
Hezbollah-linked media has released footage (below) showing the Syrian Army units which stormed Tal ad-Daman on Saturday.
Interesting to note is that battle tanks and self-propelled artillery (a staple of army-related footage) are completely absent from the video, indicating that the first troops to enter the town were likely part of a purely motorized force-recon detachment.
By securing Tal ad-Daman, the Syrian Army has cemented the success of its operation to re-claim the Al-Hass plateau after many years of predominately rebel control over the region.
