Roadside bomb kills several Islamist militants in Syria’s Idlib
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:25 P.M.) – Four rebel fighters, including a top field commander, were instantly killed when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb on Mastouma-Ariha highway, south Idlib countryside.
The slain militants belong to Syrian Liberation Front; a merger of Ahrar al-Sham and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement.
According to source, the assassinated commander (Picture below) was the chief of security office for the SLF in Ariha.
Even though no one has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, the Islamic State was the main suspect as its sleeper cells went overwhelmingly active recently in the troubled province.
It [Islamic State] has repeatedly carried out assassinations across Idlib province; killing and wounding dozens of its main rival jihadi group, namely Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
Both HTS and SLF have engaged in heavy infighting before concluding a truce months ago.
