ISIS reinforces largest oil fields in Deir Ezzor as Syrian Army nears Al-Umar
BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The Islamic State’s (ISIS) recent losses in Deir Ezzor have caused great concern for the terrorist group’s central command, as they have managed to lose more than half the province to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Making matters worse for the terrorist group, the Syrian Arab Army is quickly closing in on the Deir Ezzor Governorate’s largest oil fields at Al-‘Umar.
In response to their losses across Deir Ezzor, the Syria Ministry of Defense reports that the Islamic State has sent a large number of reinforcements to the Al-‘Umar Oil Fields in preparation for the Syrian Army’s imminent assault on this site.
While the Syrian Army is still clearing areas around Al-Mayadeen and the provincial capital, they are expected to begin the operation to liberate the Al-‘Umar Oil Fields in the coming weeks, which leaves the Islamic State with little time to regroup their retreating forces from the aforementioned areas.
