In pictures: Egyptian Army devastated by ISIS suicide bombing in Sinai province
DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:45 A.M.) – Earlier this week, a large car bomb explosion rocked an Egyptian Army checkpoint in the northern part of Sinai province, known to be a hotbed for ISIS insurgents.
An Islamic State drone filmed from afar as a volunteer suicide bomber, nicknamed Abu Al-Qaaqa Al-Ansari, drove his camouflaged vehicle towards a group of border guards, detonating tons of explosives near an army encampment that was protected by barbed wire.
A handful of images were released by Amaq Agency covering the incident:
According to the ISIS-tied outlet, jihadist foot soldiers swarmed the site seconds later and destroyed three army vehicles, killing a number of soldiers in the process.
Last month, a similar attack took place against an Egyptian Army convoy elsewhere in the governorate, leading to a massacre of government soldiers, photos of the incident revealed.
