Full battle update from southwest Syria – map

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has had another successful day in southwest Syria, despite the rebel forces handing over a key town to the Islamic State (ISIS).

The Free Syrian Army (FSA) handed over the key town of Hayt to the ISIS affiliate “Jaysh Khaled bin Walid” after the Syrian Arab Army reached the outskirts of this former stronghold.

With Hayt under the control of the Islamic State, the Syrian Army now finds themselves at the front-lines with the terrorist group in west Daraa for the first time during this war.

The Syrian Army was able to reach Hayt after entering the town of Tafas, following a reconciliation agreement with the rebel forces.

Meanwhile, west of the provincial capital, the Syrian Army entered the town of Al-Yadoudah, today, after the Free Syrian Army agreed to reconcile with the government

With control of Al-Yadoudah and Tafas, the Syrian Army is now in positions to not only strike Hayt, but also, the large towns of Nawa and Jassim.

At the northwestern corridor of Daraa, the Syrian Army achieved their first major breakthrough after the rebels agreed to surrender the towns of Kafr Shams, Inkhil, and Mazyreb.

The rebel surrender of Kafr Shams has given the Syrian Army entry into the Daraa Triangle for the first time since they retreated from the area in 2014.

In the coming days, the Syrian Army is expected to kickoff a major operation to seize the strategic town of Tal Al-Harrah, which if captured, will give them fire control over much of west Daraa and Al-Quneitra.
