Aid convoy enters recently-liberated towns in southern Damascus

Aid convoy enters recently-liberated towns in southern Damascus

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:20 P.M.) – Dozens of trucks carrying basic supplies have made it into towns of southern Damascus nearly a month after liberating it from rebel groups.

More than 50,000 people in Yalda, Babila and Beit Sahm will be receiving food parcels, medicines, blankets, kitchen sets and solar lamps to help them survive in their devastated towns.

The latest aid convoy has been mutually provided by the United Nations and Syrian Red Crescent.

Even though the Syrian government is working day and night to rehabilitate the area, the scale of destruction and damage to the infrastructure will require more time to be operational again.

The afflicted civilians still heavily rely on aid provided by the Syrian government as well as international and local organizations. Those who had fled their homes once the militants took over the towns returned to witness a massive destruction where it is almost impossible to lead their earlier lives.
